Megan Clemes – Section Editor

Megan is a first year medical student at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. She has been a student (and involved in the scientific editing process!) for many years, including completing a BSc and MSc at Queen’s University. She first had the opportunity to join CFSJ as a mentoring editor several years ago and this is now her third publication cycle as a Section Editor. She spends her free time learning home renovation skills and trying to reach her goal of reading 100 books this year.

Aidan Bennett

Aidan is a third year PhD student in the Biomedical and Molecular Sciences Program at Queen's University. Her current research is focused on gastrointestinal diseases, specifically sex differences in the pathophysiology of irritable bowel syndrome. She has had the opportunity to work in a variety of research labs that focused on different topics ranging from green chemistry to stroke research. When not in the lab, she enjoys spending my free time outside with her two horses, Eli and Wolfie.

Andrea D’Angelo

Andrea is a content specialist at the Canadian Cancer Society. She completed her BSc (Biology) at Toronto Metropolitan University and her MSc (Oncology) at the University of British Columbia. She is a certified yoga teacher, and has enjoyed teaching anatomy and physiology to teachers in training over the years. She has a passion for science communication including researching, writing, and editing scientific content. Outside of this work she enjoys spending time in the ocean and the pottery studio!

Christina Ferazzutti

Christina is an incoming master's student at Queen's University studying Reproduction and Development in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences. She is continuing her research from her BScH in cross-generational kidney alterations due to inflammatory pregnancies. With diverse interests in fitness, music, reading, and vegan cooking, Christina brings a holistic perspective to her academic journey. By sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm, Christina is passionate in inspiring the next generation of curious minds and future scientists, leaving a lasting impact on their understanding and appreciation of the scientific world.

Mitchell Jeffs

Mitchell is currently a 3rd year PhD student at Queen's University, studying Biochemistry and Cell Biology. His research involves the discovery of new antibiotics to combat multi-drug resistant bacterial infections, and the development of rapid diagnostic tests to detect these pathogens. Outside of the lab, he enjoys kayaking, biking, writing music and reading. He is excited to be involved with CSFJ in helping the next generation of young scientists to explore and fuel their love of science!

Natara Ng

Natara is a first year Master’s student in Kinesiology at McGill University, where her research focuses on physical activity adoption as a health behaviour among university students with chronic conditions and/or disabilities. Previously, she obtained an honours BSc in Kinesiology from Queen’s University, where she worked as a health promotion research assistant and volunteered at an adapted exercise program. Outside of academics, she enjoys playing the fiddle, creative writing, and adventuring in the outdoors with friends and family. She is excited to support young scientists in achieving their research goals through the CSFJ!

Manel Zeghal

Manel currently pursuing a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Ottawa. Her thesis project is pharmacologically driven, specifically characterizing signalling proteins involved in G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) interactomes, which are crucial for determining the nature of drug responses. Although she spends most days working in her lab’s cell culture room, in her spare time she enjoys watching 90’s sitcoms, tackling top 100 book lists, spending time with her pets, or grabbing a bubble tea.
