Scientific Journalists


Description

Scientific Journalists are responsible for keeping readers up to date on current events, in the science world. Specific tasks include:

  • Writing short news & feature articles to be published online and in print

  • Writing short opinion pieces on scientific topics of their choosing

  • Interviewing researchers and other scientific professionals to write career features

  • Collaborating with the Lead Journalism Editor to choose topics and edit your articles for publication

Qualifications & Assets

  • Students in grades 7-12 are eligible

  • Time efficient, organized, and able to meet deadlines

  • A passion for science and strong writing skills

  • Creativity and ability to come up with original ideas

We are looking for a team of 10 youth scientific journalists. Time commitment for this position is ~5 hours per week when working on an article. At times journalists aren’t writing articles, they can kick back and enjoy reading their peers’ work online!
